Welcome

We (Daniel Carter and Ammi Embry) married May 1, 2016 at Bicentennial Park in Nashville, Tennessee. It was a dream wedding.

In the summer of 2013 we bought a condo in the South Broadway neighborhood of Nashville. We watched the neighborhood grow and change and loved it. In 2020 we needed more space and were ready for some peace and quiet. In September 2020 we bought a new home in the Crieve Hall neighborhood in South Nashville. In 2023 we took a month at the end of December and first of January to move across the world to Split, Croatia. We've loved our adventure living in Split, Croatia for all of 2023 and half of 2024. This summer (2024) it's time for our next adventure. As we prepare ourselves, we'll be posting here less, but we will save up all our adventures (and photos) to share once we are settled. I can't wait to share (and find out) where that will be. I'm currently (2025) updating the blog with the last year of our adventures, they will be coming out (back-dated) regularly until we're caught up. We have settled in beautiful Providence, Rhode Island, USA. We've experienced what might be our first ever real winter, and found a sitcom set apartment.

Daniel and I are lucky enough to have two Bichon Bolognese puppies named Sir Magnus McFluffington and Squire Cirrus McFluffington. Magnus was beloved in downtown Nashville for nearly a decade because of his amazing sunglasses and shoes. Cirrus was a pandemic puppy if we ever saw one, and loves meeting new people (especially kids) and animals. Magnus and Cirrus are both expert travelers at this point, having visited many states in the USA and seven countries across Europe. Cirrus has spent half his life in Europe and seems to speak better Hrvaski than anyone else in the family. He's our cuddle monster and our extrovert. Magnus is doing great for 11 and has thrived in the walkable neighborhood we live in and with all our traveling. He's a grumpy old man, but he seems to be loving life despite it.

We're happy you've found us on the web and hope you take a minute to look around and learn a little about us, our lives, and our travels.

Aunt Ammi Reads The Tale of Peter Rabbit

For the first episode of this project, I wanted something short, something my nephew—whom I’ve never met in person—might enjoy, and something that captures the feeling of spring. Peter Rabbit by Beatrix Potter felt like the perfect choice. Her stories were some of my childhood favorites, and I’m sure I once read them to my brother. Now, from afar, I get to share them with his children too.Continue reading
